For anyone staying in Pore\u010d, this is the kind of experience I would not miss: a boat trip<\/a> into one of Istria\u2019s most beautiful natural landscapes<\/a>, a taste of fresh oysters straight from the source, and a reminder that the finest coastal flavours are often the simplest ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Pore\u010d, I boarded a boat with the kind of excitement that only a day on the water can bring. The coastline slowly unfolded in front of me: pale stone houses, green peninsulas, hidden coves, and that unmistakable Istrian blue stretching endlessly toward the horizon. As we cruised south past the coastal rhythm of Funtana and Vrsar, the sea began to change character. It became quieter, narrower, more mysterious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Lim Bay<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Then Lim Bay appeared. Often called the Lim Channel or Lim Fjord, this dramatic inlet is not technically a fjord, but a sunken karst valley carved into the western coast of Istria. It stretches almost 13 kilometres inland, with steep green slopes rising from calm, shimmering water. From the boat, it felt like entering a secret corridor of nature, where the Adriatic softened into something more intimate and still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes Lim Bay truly unforgettable, though, is not only its beauty. It is the taste of the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lim Bay is Known for Mussels and Oysters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The bay is known for mussels and oysters, farmed in clean, sheltered waters that give them their fresh, mineral flavour. As the boat slowed near the oyster beds, the anticipation built. Moments later, I tasted my first oyster: cool, briny and served simply with lemon. Fresh, clean and delicately salty, it captured the flavour of Lim Bay in a single bite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lunch at the Viking <\/a>restaurant continued with the flavours I had hoped for: pasta with scampi, mussels, grilled fish, olive oil, local wine, and bread made for soaking up every last drop of sauce.  Istrian coastal cuisine is honest and generous. It does not try too hard. It simply respects what the land and sea already do so well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sailing Slowly Back to Pore\u010d <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As we sailed deeper into the bay, I watched the cliffs slide past in shades of green and gold. The water was so calm that the boat seemed to glide rather than move. Now and then, the captain shared small stories of the area, of fishermen, hidden caves, old routes and the long connection between local people and the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the afternoon, I understood why this excursion is more than a boat trip. It is a slow tasting of Istria itself. Starting from refined Pore\u010d, passing along the open Adriatic, and ending in the quiet embrace of Lim Bay, the day felt like a journey through different moods of the same coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why a Boat Trip to Lim Bay Is Always a Good Idea <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When I returned to Pical Resort 5, Valamar Collection<\/a>, sun-warmed and sea-salted, I carried the flavours of the bay with me. The oysters, the wine, the breeze, the silence between the cliffs – they all stayed. Some places are remembered through photographs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lim Bay, I realised, is remembered on the palate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
