An Evening on Mount Srđ
Our plan for the evening was simple:take the cable car to the top, enjoy the views, watch an open-air concert and have dinner at Panorama Restaurant. Could life get any better?

Taking the cable car to Mount Srđ: just minutes from an unforgettable view
We decided to reach the top in the easiest possible way. The Dubrovnik Cable Car departs just a short distance from the historic centre, and the journey to the top takes only a few minutes.
Despite being short, the ride is an experience in itself. As the cable car slowly rises above the city, Dubrovnik’s rooftops become smaller, the City Walls take on their distinctive shape and the blue Adriatic seems to stretch endlessly towards the horizon.
At the time of our visit, an adult return ticket cost €30, but it is worth checking the latest prices and timetable on the official Dubrovnik Cable Car website before you go.
Mount Srđ views over Dubrovnik, Lokrum and the Elaphiti Islands
As soon as we reached the top of Mount Srđ, I understood why this place features on almost every list of the best things to experience in Dubrovnik.
The mount srđ views take in the entire Old Town, Lokrum Island, the Adriatic Sea and the distant Elaphiti Islands.
The stone houses and orange rooftops look like a perfectly arranged miniature model, while the City Walls clearly trace the outline of Dubrovnik’s historic centre.

A concert on Dubrovnik’s most beautiful stage
During our visit, an open-air concert was taking place at the top. The music, open sky and panorama of Dubrovnik created an atmosphere unlike anything you could experience in a traditional concert hall.
The stage on Mount Srđ above Dubrovnik has neither walls nor a ceiling. The Old Town provides the backdrop, while the sunset and the lights gradually appearing along the coast provide the lighting.
Dinner with a view at Panorama Restaurant
After the concert, we headed to Panorama Restaurant. The name could hardly be more appropriate, as the view here is every bit as important as the food.
We settled into our table overlooking Dubrovnik. The City Walls, streets and harbour now looked completely different from how they had during the day.
It is difficult to know where to look first, and the view from Mount Srđ becomes particularly magical as sunset approaches.

More than just dinner
After the cable car ride, sunset and concert, sitting above Dubrovnik with a glass of wine felt like the perfect end to the day.
Our conversation occasionally came to a halt because we kept turning back towards the view. Some moments do not need to be filled with words.
The light becomes softer, the sea takes on golden reflections and Dubrovnik’s rooftops change colour from one minute to the next. The photographs may be beautiful, but even the best camera cannot quite capture the feeling of standing above one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
Why Is Mount Srđ a Must When Visiting Dubrovnik?
There are many ways to discover Dubrovnik. You can walk along its City Walls, explore its historic landmarks, get lost in its stone-paved streets or cool off beside the rocks at Buža Bar. Yet it is only from the top of Mount Srđ that you can see how all these different parts come together.
From above, you gain a better understanding of Dubrovnik’s unique relationship with the sea, its walls and the surrounding islands. The Mount Srđ viewpoint offers a perspective you simply cannot experience anywhere else in the city.
The views are not the only reason to make your way to the top of Mount Srđ. Fort Imperial is also home to the Dubrovnik Homeland War Museum, offering important insight into the city’s recent history and the events that took place in the Dubrovnik area between 1991 and 1995.
It is worth arriving before sunset so you can experience Dubrovnik both in daylight and after dark. Allow enough time for a walk, plenty of photographs and, most importantly, simply enjoying the scenery.
How to Get to Mount Srđ: Cable Car, Hiking or E-Tuk-Tuk
Although we chose the cable car, you can also hike to the top of Mount Srđ. The trail offers a very different experience, rewarding every step with increasingly impressive views over the city. Hiking is a great option for active travellers, particularly in the morning or outside the hottest part of the day. Make sure you bring plenty of water, sun protection and suitable footwear, as there is very little shade along the route.
Another interesting option is an e-tuk-tuk tour, combining a comfortable ride with sightseeing and stops at attractive viewpoints above Dubrovnik. It is an excellent choice for travellers who want to experience Mount Srđ from a different perspective without a strenuous climb, while still having plenty of time for photographs and panoramic views.
After a full day of exploring Dubrovnik, however, a cable car ride lasting just a few minutes sounded considerably more appealing to us. We saved our energy for the concert, taking photographs and the dinner we had been particularly looking forward to.

An Evening to Remember Above Dubrovnik
At the beginning of the day, I thought I had already seen the very best of Dubrovnik. The City Walls had shown me its strength, the Rector’s Palace its history and Buža its relaxed Mediterranean side.
Mount Srđ showed me all of it at once. Just a few minutes on the cable car were enough to take us from the bustle of the city to a place high above the rooftops, sea and islands. Add a sunset, a concert beneath the stars and dinner with a view at Panorama Restaurant, and you have an evening that is almost impossible to beat.
