Breathtaking views from the very first stop

One of the first stops on the tuk-tuk tour is the Franjo Tuđman Bridge, which stretches across Rijeka Dubrovačka.

The bridge itself is impressive, but the real reason to stop is the view. From here, the panorama opens towards the sea, Gruž and the surrounding coastline – an excellent introduction to Dubrovnik from above.

But the views get even better.

The route continues towards Mount Srđ, the hill rising behind Dubrovnik and one of the best places to understand just how spectacular the city’s setting really is.

From the viewpoint, Dubrovnik’s terracotta rooftops appear almost miniature below you, enclosed by the famous city walls and surrounded by the deep blue Adriatic. On a clear day, your view stretches towards Lokrum and the Elaphiti Islands beyond.

It is also one of those places where you will probably reach for your phone before the tuk-tuk has even stopped.

Nearby stands Fort Imperial, built during the Napoleonic period in the early 19th century. Today, the fortress is home to the Museum of the Croatian War of Independence and offers another insight into Dubrovnik’s more recent history.

Discover Dubrovnik beyond the viewpoints

The panoramic drive is only one part of the experience.

After seeing Dubrovnik from above, the tour brings you back towards the Old Town, where the city’s history suddenly feels much closer.

Surrounded by monumental medieval walls, Dubrovnik’s historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with narrow stone streets, elegant palaces, churches, fountains and small squares.

This is where it is worth getting out of the tuk-tuk and slowing down.

Walk along Stradun, Dubrovnik’s famous main street, and look around at the limestone façades that have witnessed centuries of city life. At either end, streets and alleyways lead towards some of Dubrovnik’s best-known landmarks.

History around every corner

One of the joys of exploring Dubrovnik is that you rarely have to walk far before encountering another piece of history.

Stop by the Church of St Blaise, dedicated to Dubrovnik’s patron saint, and continue towards Orlando’s Column, one of the city’s most recognisable monuments.

Nearby, the Rector’s Palace recalls the time when Dubrovnik was the centre of the independent Republic of Ragusa. Once the seat of its rector and government, it is now one of the most important cultural landmarks in the Old Town.

Another essential stop is the Franciscan Monastery, whose pharmacy dates back to the 14th century and is considered one of the oldest continuously operating pharmacies in Europe.

Then there is the Church of St Saviour and the monumental Large Onofrio’s Fountain, which has been providing water to the city since the 15th century.

And, of course, there are Dubrovnik’s famous city walls. Walking along them takes you above the rooftops and offers a constantly changing view of the Old Town on one side and the Adriatic on the other.

Why explore Dubrovnik by tuk-tuk?

Dubrovnik has so much to see that trying to fit everything into one day can quickly become exhausting – particularly during the warmer summer months.

A tuk-tuk tour makes it possible to cover more ground without spending the entire day walking or looking for parking. It also takes you beyond the Old Town to panoramic locations that many visitors might otherwise miss.

The current tour combines an electric tuk-tuk ride with a professional guide and stops at the Franjo Tuđman Bridge, the Srđ viewpoint and Dubrovnik Old Town.

It works particularly well at the beginning of your holiday, giving you an overview of the city before you decide which places you would like to return to and explore in more detail.

A memorable way to meet Dubrovnik

There are countless ways to discover Dubrovnik, but travelling through the city in an open electric tuk-tuk has a charm of its own.

You get the panoramic views without the long climb, discover some of the city’s best-known landmarks and still have time to wander through the Old Town at your own pace.

Bring your camera, comfortable shoes and your favourite travel companions.

Dubrovnik will provide the views.
